The Index of Polish Marquesses

Wielopolski (Gonzaga-Myszkowski) h. Starykon. Jan Wielopolski obtained the hereditary title of Count of the Holy Roman Empire from Ferdinand III on 29th November 1656. Ignacy Wielopolski obtained the hereditary title of Count of Galicia from Emperor Josef II on 22nd July 1788. The descendants of Aleksander-Ignacy-Kanty-Piotr obtained the hereditary title of Count from Russian Czar Aleksander II on 12th November 1879. On this same date Czar Aleksander II also conferred on Aleksander the right to bear the name, arms and title of Marquis previously borne by the Gonzaga Myszkowski family. In 1729, upon the extinction of the Gonzaga-Myszkowski family, the Wielopolski family had inherited the Pinczow majority held by that family. The title of Marquis was hereditary by primogeniture only. In 1824 the Wielopolskis appeared in the list of families authorised to bear the title of Count of the Kingdom of Poland.

The Index of Polish Counts 

Aleksandrowicz h. Kosy/Kruki. Stanislaw Aleksandrowicz (1781-1826) obtained the hereditary title of Count of Galicia from Emperor Francis I on 9th October 1800. In 1824 the Aleksandrowicz family appeared in the list of families authorised to bear the title of Count of the Kingdom of Poland. The title was recognised in Russia on 27th December 1847. The titled family is now extinct.

Ankwicz h. Abdank. Stanislaw, Andrzej, Jan, Michal and Maciej obtained the hereditary title of Count of Galicia from Empress Maria-Theresa on 5th December 1778. All the titled branches of the Ankwicz family became extinct by 1845.

Badeni h. Boncza. Sebastien Badeni obtained the title of Count of the Kingdom of Poland from the Polish Senate on 2nd December 1825. The title became extinct upon his death. Casimir-Stanislaw-Franciszek Badeni obtained the hereditary title of Count of Austria on 28th February 1846. Stanislaw-Franciszek-Pawel Badeni obtained the hereditary title of Count of Austria on 21st May 1887.

Batowski h. Trzy Zeby. In 1824 Aleksander Batowski appeared in the list of persons authorised to bear the title of Count of the Kingdom of Poland. The title is now extinct.

Baworowski h. Prus III. Maciej-Tadeusz-Waclaw, Alois and Victor-Ignacy Baworowski obtained the hereditary title of Count of Galicica from Empress Maria-Theresa on the 19th February 1779 (Letters Patent: 27th July 1779).

Bakowski h. Gryf. Maciejcie Bakowski obtained the hereditary title of Count of Galicia from Emperor Joseph II on 20th December 1782. The title is now extinct.

Bielinski h. Junosza. In 1798 Stanislaw Bielinski obtained the title of Count from Kaiser Frederick-Wilhelm of Prussia. The title is now extinct.

Bielinski h. Szeliga. Piotr Bielinski obtained the hereditary title of Count of the Kingdom of Poland from Czar Aleksander I on 23rd August 1825. The title became extinct on 27th February 1897.

Bielski h. Jelita. Antoni obtained the hereditary title of Count of Galicia from Empress Maria-Theresa on 19th November 1778. He died without issue. Jules-Robert-Vincent-Joseph obtained the title of Count of Galicia from Emperor Franz-Josef on 18th July 1895 (Letters Patent 6th September 1895).

Bninski h. Lodzia. The following family members received the hereditary title of Count from Prussian Kaiser Frederick-Wilhelm III: Lukasz (obtained on 5th June 1798); the brothers Aleksander and Florent (obtained on 17th January 1816), they were also listed amongst those authorised to bear the title of Count of the Kingdom of Poland in 1824; Josef (obtained on 12th June 1816).

Bobrowski h. Jastrzebiec-Bolescicow. Ignacy obtained the hereditary title of Count of Galicia from Emperor Franz II on 19th June 1800. A branch of the family received Russian recognition on 28th June 1844.

Borch h. Trzy Kawki. Michal-Jan obtained the hereditary title of Count of the Holy Roman Empire from Emperor Josef II on 17th March 1783. Karol-Jerzy-Jan-Josef, Aleksander-Antoni-Stanislaw and Josef-Casimir-Piotr-Michal obtained confirmation of their titles in Russia on 20th September 1839, their descendants obtained further Russian confirmations on 28th September 1843, 4th November 1853, 26th October 1854, 3rd July 1858 and 1st February 1882.

Borkowski h. Junosza. Wlodomir-Maria obtained the hereditary title of Count of Austria from Emperor Franz-Josef on 15th May 1866. The title was extinct upon his death.

Borkowski (Dunin) h. Labedz. The brothers Leonard-Vincent, Franciszek-Antoni and Stanislaw along with Titus and Henryk-Jacek Borkowski obtained the hereditary title of Count of Austria from Emperor Franz I on 5th February 1819 and 28th February 1828. The three brothers are also listed in the 1824 register of those persons authorised to bear the title of Count of the Kingdom of Poland.

Branicki h. Korczak. Wladyslaw-Gregorz obtained the hereditary title of Count of Russia from Czar Nicholas I on 18th April 1839 (Letters Patent 9th July 1841).

Breza h. Breza. The brothers Henryk-Gustav-Algernon, Edward and Frederick-Augustus obtained the hereditary title of Count of Saxony from King Albert on 31st May 1889.

Broniec h. Bronic. In 1830 the Delegation of the Senate of the Kingdom of Poland issued what appears to be a recognition of Adam Broniec's title of Count. He died without issue.

Brzozowski h. Strzemie. Casimir obtained the title of count from Pope Innocent XII. Aleksander and Franciszek-Ksawery obtained the hereditary title of Count of Prussia from Kaiser Frederick-Wilhelm II. They appear along with their third brother Michal and their cousin Karol amonst those authorised to bear the title of Count of the Kingdom of Poland in 1824. The descendants of Aleksander and Franciszek-Ksawery obtained Russian confirmation of their title on the 1st May 1846.

Brzozowski h. Belina. Karol obtained the hereditary title of Count from Pope Leo XIII (succession by primogeniture).

Bukowski h. Osoria. Michal and Franciszek obtained the hereditary title of Count of Galicia from Emperor Josef II on 11th February 1783.

Bystrzanowski h. Starykon. Kajetan-Josef obtained the hereditary title of Count of Galicia from Emperor Franz II on 19th March 1801. The title was recognised in Prussia on 5th September 1803.

Cetner h. Przerowa. Dominik and Ignacy-Aleksander obtained the hereditary title of Count of Galicia on the 1st December 1780.

Charczewski (Charczowski) h. Cholewa. Michal and Valentyn obtained the hereditary title of Count of Galicia from Emperor Josef II on the 12th February 1783.

Chodkiewicz h. Chodkiewicz. Aleksander-Franciszek is listed amongst those entitled to bear the title of Count of the Kingdom of Poland in 1824.

Choloniewski h. Korczak. Ignacy, Rafal and Franciszek obtained the hereditary title of Count of the Galicia from Emperor Francis II on the 30th March 1798. Franciszek died without issue. The descendants of Ignacy and Rafal obtained Russian confirmation of their title on the 28th January 1842 and the 21st December 1849.

Cieszkowski h Dolega. Augustus (1813-1895) obtained the title of Count from Pope Pius IX in 1850. The title was confirmed in Prussia in 1854.

Czacki h. Swinka. Felix-Maria-Adam (1840-1909) obtained the title of Count of Russia on the 5th May 1897.

Czapski h. Leliwa. The Czapskis received the hereditary title of Count in Prussia on September 27th 1804 and Nobember 3rd 1861, in Russia on June 12th 1874, June 28th 1895 and June 14th 1900.

Czarnecki h. Prus III (modified). Marcel (1793-1868) received the hereditary title of Count from Kaiser Frederick-Wilhelm IV of Prussia on October 30th 1854 (succession by primogeniture). On June 8th 1857 the right of succession was extended to all three children of Marcel: Antoni, Zygmunt and Stanislas. This was subject to the restriction that the title would not pass to one who married a non-noble. Letters Patent confirming this requirement were issued in Berlin on January 25th 1860.

Czosnowski h. Kolumna. Adam (1785-1847) obtained the hereditary title of Count from King Umberto I of Italy (succession by primogeniture). Adam died without issue. Isidor-Stanislaw (1857-1934) obtained the hereditary title of Count from Pope Leo XIII on April 8th 1897 (succession by primogeniture).

Dambski h. Godziemba. Casimir, Augustus and Damien-Felicien are listed amongst those who are entitled to bear the title of Count of the Kingdom of Poland in 1824. Apollinaire-Pantaleon (1802-1868) and Casimir-Ludwik (+1833) obtained the hereditary title of Count of Prussia on December 3rd 1825. Gustav-Eustachy (1799-1863), Juliusz (1802-1836) and Arnold (1804-182) obtained the hereditary title of Count of Prussia on September 19th 1826.

Dembinski h. Rawicz. Jan-Nepomucene obtained the hereditary title of Count of Galicia from Emperor Josef II on August 2nd 1784. The title is now extinct.

Debicki h. Gryf. Ludwik (+1808) obtained the hereditary title of Count of Galicia from Emperors Josef II and Leopold II on August 2nd 1789 (Letters Patent November 25th 1790)

Drohojowski h. Korczak. Antoni-Jan, Jan and Wiktor obtained the hereditary title of Count of Galicia from Emperor Josef II on February 7th 1783.

Dzialynski h. Ogonczyk. Franciszek-Ksawery obtained the hereditary title of Count from Kaiser Frederick-Wilhelm II on September 19th 1786. His wife Justyna appeared in the list of persons authorised to bear the title of Countess of the Kingdom of Poland in 1824. The title is now extinct.

Dzieduzycki h. Sas. Tadeusz (1724-1777) and Dominik (1727-1804) obtained the title of Count of Galicia from Empress Maria-Theresa on October 22nd 1776 and July 26th 1777. Waleryn-Wiktor (1754-1832), Laurent-Martin (1772-1836) and Josef-Kalasanty (1776-1847) and Ignacy (+1828) appear in the list of persons authorised to bear the title of Count of the Kingdom of Poland. Henryk-Seweryn-Ignacy obtained Prussian recognition of his title on November 2nd 1826. Maurycy (1872-_ obtained Italian recognition of his title on March 16th 1901.

Dzierzbicki h. Topor. Ksawery is listed amongst those persons authorised to bear the title of Count of the Kingdom of Poland in 1824. The title is now extinct.

Flemming h. Flemming. The Flemmings obtained the title of Count of the Holy Roman Empire on November 16th 1700 and Januray 9th 1721.

Fredro h. Boncza. Hycanithe (+1828) obtained the hereditary title of Count from Emperor Francis I. Jan (+1845) appears in the list of persons entitled to bear the title of Count of the Kingdom of Poland.

Garczynski h. Garczynski (Sas modified). Adam-Josef-Alois-Tadeusz (1791-1863) obtained the hereditary title of Count from King Frederick-Wilhelm III of Prussia. The title is now extinct.

Gizycki h. Gozdawa. Franciszek-Ksawery appeared in the list of persons authorised to bear the title of Count of the Kingdom of Poland in 1824.

Golejewski h. Kosciesza. Jerzy and Jan obtained the hereditary title of Count of Galicia on February 8th 1783.

Goluchowski h. Leliwa. Josef-Albert (1734-1806) obtained the hereditary title of Count of Galicia from Emperor Josef II on June 17th 1783.

Gomolinski h. Jelita. The Gomolinskis figure amongst those persons entitled to bear the title of Count in the Kingdom of Poland.

Gorzenski (-Ostrorog) h. Nalecz. Timothy (+1821) and Augustin (+1816) received the hereditary title of Count from the King of Prussia in 1774. The title is now extinct. In 1870 Antoni, Stanislas and Zygmunt obtained permission in Prussia to include "Ostrorog" as a second-barrel to their name. Zygmunt obtained the title of Count from Pope Pius IX on July 17th 1886. The title became extinct upon his death without issue.

Grabowski h. Topor. The Grabowskis obtained the hereditary title of Count in Prussia on December 1st 1816, in Russia on April 21st 1836, May 28th 1840, November 5th 1840, July 28th 1844, June 21st 1887 and February 1st 1894. In 1824 the Grabowskis appeared in the list of persons entitled to bear the title of Count in the Kingdom of Poland.

Grabowski h. Zbiswicz. Piotr-Boniface obtained the hereditary title of Count from King Frederick-Wilhelm II of Prussia on September 17th 1786. The title became extinct upon his death without issue. Josef-Jerzy obtained the hereditary title of Count from King Frederick-Wilhelm IV of Prussia on September 10th 1840 (succession by primogeniture). Josef-Jan-Ignacy-Tadeusz (1791-1881_
obtained the hereditary title of Count from King Frederick-Wilhelm IV of Prussia on September 10th 1840 (succession by primogeniture). On August 26th 1854 Adam-Waclaw-Jan (1827-1899), the son of Josef-Jan-Ignacy-Tadeusz, obtained permission in Prussia to use the title of Count. The title became extinct upon his death.

Grocholski h. Syrokomla. Stanislaw-Wincenty-Karol-Michal, Tadeusz-Przemyslaw-Michal and all the children of Henryk-Cyprian-Ignacy (1802-1866) obtained the hereditary title of Count in Russia on May 26th 1881. Bernard-Josef-Maria, Maria-Josef-Wladimir and all the children of Matthew-Mieczyslaw-Josef-Maria (1812-1899) obtained the hereditary title of Count in Russia on November 18th 1898.

Grodzinski h. Lada. Jan-Nepomucene obtained the hereditary title of Count of Galicia from Empeor Francis II on May 8th 1800.

Grudzinski h. Grzymala. Joanna (1799-1831) was awarded the title of Princess of Lowicz by Czar Aleksander I on August 8th 1820 following her marriage to Grand Duke Constantine of Russia. The title became extinct upon her death. Zygmunt-Ignacy-Jan (1734-1804) obtained the hereditary title of Count from King Frederick II of Prussia. The title is now extinct.

Grzembski h. Jastrebiec. Stanislas (died July 3rd 1808) obtained the hereditary title of Count of Galicia from Emperor Francis I on May 31st 1806. He died without issue.

Gurowski h. Wczele. Rafal (1716-1797) obtained the hereditary title of Count from King Frederick-Wilhelm of Prussia on November 5th 1787. The title was confirmed in Russia on July 5th 1844. The Gurowskis appeared in the list of persons authorised to bear the title of Count in the Kingdom of Poland in 1824.

Gutakowski h. Gutag. Waclaw (1790-1882) and Konstantyn (b.1800) both appear in the list of persons authorised to bear the title of Count in the Kingdom of Poland. They both died without issue.

Hauke
Humnicki h. Gozdawa. Michal obtained the hereditary title of Count of Galicia on March 18th 1790. Michal's cousin obtained the same title on September 6th 1794.

Husarzewski h. Husarzewski/Prus-Sas. Karol-Antoni (+1832) obtained the hereditary title of Count from King Frederick-Wilhelm III of Prussia on December 14th 1814.

Ilinski h. Lis. Henryk (1792-1871) and Jan-Augustus-Stanislaw (1795-1860) obtained the hereditary title of Count in Russia on June 7th and December 7th 1850. Aleksander-Augustus obtained confirmation of this title from Czar Nicholas II on May 21st 1897. Nicholas II also authorsed the trasmission of this title to Aleksander-Augustus's nephew, Aleksander-Maximiliany-Ignacy-Victor Kaszowski (see Kaszowski below).

Jablonowski h. Grzymala. Roch-Michal-Stanislaw (d.1780) obtained the hereditary title of Count in Austria.

Jaraczewski h. Zaremba. Ignacy-Stanislaw obtained the Prussian title of Count in 1810. The title became extinct upon his death.

Jaworski h. Sas. Romuald-Josef and Michal-Gabriel (sons of Andrzej-Antoni and Constance Siekierzynska h. Zadora) obtained the title of Baron on 9th September 1779 and the title of Count of Galicia on 27th July 1782. Romuald-Josef died without male issue. Andrzej-Antoni's descendants became extinct in the male line in 1851.

Jezierski h. Nowina. Hyacinthe (son of Louis and Victoria Stoinska h. Janina) b. 1722, d. 1805 obtained the hereditary title of Count of Galicia from Emperor Francis II on 5th July 1801. Hyacinthe's sons, Jan-Nepomucene-Pawel-Franciszek and Stanislaw appear in the 1824 list of persons authorised to bear the title of Count in the Kingdom of Poland. Jan-Nepomucene-Pawel-Franciszek and the three sons of Stanislaw (Karol-Antoni-Stanislaw-Josef, Mieczyslaw-Stanislaw-Josef and Wladyslaw-Stanislaw-Josef-Franciszek) obtained Rusian confirmation of their titles on 30th November 1849.

Jundzill h. Labedz. Franciszek (son of Tadeusz and Angela Zaleska) d. 1818 obtained an hereditary title of Count from King Frederick-Wilhelm III of Prussia on 5th June 1798. The last titled member of this family died in Switzerland in 1941.

Kalinowski h. Kalinowa. Seweryn-Ksawery (son of Ignacy and Justyna Borzecka h. Polkozic) obtained the hereditary title of Count in Austria from Emperor Francis I on 17th August 1818.

Karnicki h. Lis. Remigian-Felicjan b. 29th May 1749 obtained the hereditary title of Baron of Galicia on 17th December 1782. On the 10th February 1844 (L.P. 12th August 1845) the following persons received the heredtiary title of Count from Emperor Ferdiand I: Feliz-Cyprian-Stanislaw (younger son of Remigian-Felicjan by his wife Louise-Weronika-Dorota Los. h. Dabrowa); Kajetan-Cyriak (son of Remigian-Felicjan) 7th August 1792-12th January 1856; Roman (brother of Kajetan-Cyriak) 1793-1854. The last titled member of this house was Michael (son of Felix-Cyprian-Stanislaw and Eveline Czacka h Swinka) d. without issue 12th May 1905.

Karsnicki h. Leliwa. Antoni (son of Walentyn) b. 1778 d. without issue 3rd May 1844 obtained the hereditary title of Count from Austrian Emperor Franics I on 23rd June 1821. The title became extinct upon his death.

Kaszowski-Ilinski h. Janina. On 21st January 1902 Aleksander-Maksimilian-Ignacy-Wiktor-Adolf (son of Adolf by his second wife Leona-Maria Ilinska h. Lis) b. 1869 (adopted by his uncle Aleksander Ilinski) obtained the right to bear the surname Kaszowski-Ilinski and use the hereditary title of Count in Russia.

Keszycki h. Nalecz. Martin (son of Josef and Josephine Horodyska h. Korczak) b. 1834 d. 1900 obtained the title of Count from Pope Pius IX in 1875. The title became extinct upon his death.

Kicinski h. Rogala. Bruno-Denis-Aeropagite-Marcel (son of Pius and Franciszka Cieciszowska h. Roch II) b. 7th October 1797, d. 23rd March 1844, obtained the hereditary title of Count in Russia on 5th July 1844. The title is extinct.

Koczorowski h. Rogala. Casmir (son of Tertulien and Franciszka Bninska h. Lodzia) b. 1824, d. 1893 obtained the hereditary title of Count from Pope Pius IX on 21st April 1871 (succesion by male primogeniture).

Komarnicki h. Sas. Lucas (son of Gregory and Maria Podrucka) obtained the hereditary title of Count of Galicia from Austrian Emperor Francis II on 19th October 1803. The title is extinct.

Komorowski h. Ciolek. Erasmus (son of Jan and Louise Cielecka h. Zaremba) d. 1835 obtained the hereditary title of Count from Ausiran Emperor Francis I on 25th July 1817. The title is extinct.

Komorowski h. Korczak. The Komorowskis obtained the hereditary title of Count of Galicia on 13th April 1793, 19th October 1803, and 23rd January 1894. The title was confirmed in Russia on 5th July 1844. Ignacy and Cyprian appear in the 1824 list of persons authorised to bear the title of Count in the Kingdom of Poland.

Konarski h. Gryf. Etienne-Louis (1725-1788) and Adam (b.1735) sons of Michal (1691-1746) and Teresa Lipska h. Grabie, obtained the hereditary title of Count of Galicia from Austrian Emperoro Josef II on 20th May 1783.

Konopacki h. Trzaska. Wladyslaw (b. 17th December 1833) and Jerzy-Simon-Modeste (b. 15 April 1836) [both sons of Franciszek-Joachim by his wife Sophia Przyluska) obtained the hereditary title of Count in Saxony on 20th October 1875. They died without issue.

Korytowski h. Mora. Jules-Leopold-Franciszek (son of Erazmus 1816-1870 by his wife Malvyna-Casmira Starzenska h. Lis 1816-1894) b. 10th March 1844 obtained the hereditary title of Count in Austria on 24th May 1893 (L.P. 27th June 1893).

Kossakowski h. Slepowron. The Kossakowskis obtained the hereditary title of Count in Austria on 3rd June 1784 (this branch became extinct in 1801) and in Russia on 25th July 1804 (this branch became extinct in 1842) and again on 19th March 1843 and 16th December 1875 with later confirmations on 16th February 1859, 21st February 1861 and the 10th May 1888.

Koziebrodzki h. Jastrzebiec-Bolescicow. Marcin-Boleslaw (son of Adam and Adnese Karska) d. 15th February 1787 obtained the hereditary title of Count of Galicia from Emperor Josef II on 30th January 1781.

Krasicki h. Rogala. Jerzy (second son of Stanislaw and Catherine Zorawinska) obtained the hereditary title of Count of the Holy Roman Empire from Emperor Ferdinand II on 1st July 1631. The title was confirmed in Austria on 14th March 1786 (L.P. 22nd September 1787) and in Russia on 2nd June 1844, 20th September 1852, 28th November 1866 and 2nd November 1882.

Krasinski h. Slepowron. The Krainskis obtained the hereditary title of count in Prussia on 5th June 1798 and 1st April 1806, in France on 20th May 1811 (L.P. 13th June 1811), in Russia on 17th March 1837 and in Austria on 10th April 1848, 29th June 1856 (L.P. 8th August 1856) and 18th September 1882 (L.P. 27th April 1883). In 1824 the Krasinskis appeared in the list of persons authorised to bear the title of Count in the Kingdom of Poland.

Kreski h. Nadelwicz. Konstantyn (son of Joachim and Justyna Magnuska) obtained the hereditary title of Count from King Frederich-Wilhelm IV of Prussia on 25th October 1843. The title is extinct.

Krosnowski h. Junosza. Ignacy obtained the title of Count in Austria from Emperor Leopold II on 17th April 1791. Ignacy died without issue. Marcel-Wincenty-Antoni appeared in the 1824 list of persons authorised to bear the title of Count in the Kingdom of Poland. He obtained the hereditary title of Count in Austria from Emperor Ferdinand I on 22nd October 1841. He died without issue. The title is extinct.

Krukowiecki h. Pomian. Piotr-Pawel (1722-1792) obtained the title of Baron from Empress Maria-Theresa on 25th March 1780 and the hereditary title of Count of Galicia from Emperor Josef II on 6th May 1784. Jan (1770-17th April 1850) figures in the 1824 list of persons authorised to bear the title of Count in the Kingdom of Poland. On 27th December 1847 Jan obtained the hereditary title of Count in Russia from Czar Nicholas I. The title is extinct.

Kuczkowski h. Jastrzebiec. Andrzej-Aleksander (b. 1755) obtained the hereditary title of Count of Galicia on 30th November 1807 from Emperor Francis I. The last titled member of this family was his youngest son, Casimir-Antoni-Piotr-Stanislaw-Andrzej (1814-1873).

Kurnatowski h. Lodzia. Zygmunt (son of Stanislaw and Eleonora Potworowska) (b. 1858) obtained the hereditary papal title of Count from Pope Leo XIII on 30th Septemer 1902 (succession by male primogeniture).

Kuropatnicki h. Nieczuja. Evariste-Andrzej (son of, d. 1742 and Theresa Kurdanowska) d. 21st February 1788, obtained the hereditary title of Count of Galicia from Empress Maria-Theresa on 10th March 1779. The last titled member of this family was his son Josef-Ksawery (1766-1832).

Kwilecki h. Byliny. Two branches of this family obtained the hereditary title of Count in Prussia: 1. Clement (d. 1825) and his brother Jan-Nepomucene (d. 1838) [sons of Jan-Jozef by his wife Nepomucene Bielinska) obtained the title from King Frederich-Wilhelm III on 17th January 1816. The two brothers appeared in the 1824 list of persons authorised to bear the title of Count of the Kingdom of Poland. 2. Josef-Ignacy-Walentyn (son of Antoni-Maciej), b. 10th February 1791, d. 3rd November 1860, obtained the title from King Frederich Willehlm III on 12th June 1816. This title was confirmed in Russia on 2nd July 1842. Upon the death of Josef-Ignacy-Walentyn the title was transmitted, with permission from the King of Prussia, to his younger son, Zbigniew-Antoni-Jozef of the Wesierski family. In 1928, after the death of Wesierski the title passed to the senior branch of the Kwilecki family.

Lanckoronski h. Zadora. The Lanckoronskis obtained the hereditary title of Count on the following occasions: from Emperor Josef II on 25th May 1774, 10th September 1782 and 18th September 1783, and from the Kingdom of Poland on 19th July 1825. In 1824 members of the family appeared in the list of persons authorised to bear the title of Count in the Kingdom of Poland.

Lasocki h. Dolega. Daniel-Titus (son of Walenty, b. 1746, d. 1793, and of Anne Szygowska), b. 3rd January 1785, d. 31st July 1875, obtained the hereditary Papal title of Count from Pope Pius IX on 13th April 1869 (L.P. 30th January 1872) (succession by male primogeniture). Bronislaw-Julusz-Edmond (son of the above by his wife Monika-Florentine Nieznanska), b. 18th August 1828, obtained the hereditary title of Count from Leopold II, King of the Belgians. Austrian Emperor Franz-Josef confirmed this title for his threee sons on 8th April 1888 and 11th April 1892 (L.P. 18th April 1892). Maximilian, b. 12th September 1785 d. without issued 7th October 1812 obtained the title of Chevalier of the French Empire from Emperor Napoleon I. The title became extinct upon his death.

Latalski h. Prawdzic. Janusz (d. 1557) obtained the herditary title of Count of the Holy Roman Empire from Emperor Charles V on 21st July 1538. Dominik-Wladyslaw (son of Aleksander) appeared in the list of persons authorsied to bear the title of Count in the Kingdom of Poland. The title is believed to have become extinct at the end of the nineteenth century.

Ledochowski h. Szalawa.
Antoni-Barthomoew-Hyacinthe-Joachim-Philippe-Michal (son of Franciszek and Louise Denhoff) b. 23rd August 1755, d. 11th November 1835 obtained the hereditary title of Count in Austria from Emperor Francis II on 8th May 1800. The title was confirmed in the Kingdom of Poland in 1825, and in Russia on 18th May 1845. In 1824 the Ledochowskis appeared in the list of persons authorised to bear the title of Count in the Kingdom of Poland.

Leszczynski h. Abdank. Josef, b. 27th July 1791 (son of Michael by his wife Barbara Wolska) obtained the hereidtary title of Count of Galicia from Emperor Josef II on 1st November 1782. His two sons, Antoni and Clement-Kajetan died without issue and the title thereby became extinct.

Lewicki h. rogala. Samuel-Albert (son of Ignacy-Adam by his wife Maria Tarnawiecka) obtained the hereditary title of Count of Galicia from Emperor Josef II on 11th October 1783. The title became extinct upon the death of his younger son, Kajetan. After the death of Kajetan his daughter, Zofia, maried to Count William Siemienski, obtained the right to inherit by the estate from Emperor Franz-Josef (7th December 1869). According to the terms of this authorisation William Siemienski was obliged to carry the name of Siemienski-Lewicki).

Lubieniecki h. Rola. Kajetan and Antoni (sons of Dominik by his wife Katarzyna Kumianiecka) and Augustus and Jan-Kanty-Adam (son of Adam and Josephine Pieglowska) obtained the herediary title of Count of Galicia from Emperor Josef II on 25th January 1783. Jan-Kanty-Adam appears in the 1824 list of persons authorised to bear the title of Count of the Kingdom of Poland. Jan-Kanty-Adam also received Russian confirmation of his title on 18th May 1845.

Lacki h. Korzbok. Wladyslaw-Thomas-Josef-Anastas (son of Antoni by his wife Nymphe Sczaniecka) b. 7th March 1821, d. 6th March 1908, obtained the title of Count in Prussia on 11th December 1893. The title is extinct.

Laczynski h. Nalecz. Josef (son of Antoni), d. 19th May 1800, obtained the hereditary title of Count of Galicia from Emperor Josef II on 6th November 1783. The title is extinct.

Los h. Dabrowa. The Los obtained the hereditary title of Count on the following occasions: of Galicia on 13th June 1783 and 17th May 1789 from Emperor Josef II, in Austria on 27th January 1861 from Emperor Franz-Josef and in Russia on 28th June 1844 from Czar Nicholas I.

Lubienski h. Pomian. Felix-Valois (son of Celestin by his wife Pauline Szembek), b. 1758, d. 1848, obtained the hereditary title of Count from King Frederich-Wilhelm III of Prussia on 5th June 1798. In 1824 he appeared in the list of persons authorised to bear the title of Count in the Kingdom of Poland. He received Russian confirmation of his title on 28th June 1844. Thomas (son of Felix-Valois by his wife Tekla Bielinska) b. 29th December 1784, d. 27th September 1870, obtained the title of Baron from French Emperor Napoleon I on 15th March 1810 (L.P. 13th February 1811). Franciszek-Ksawery (brother of the above) b. 5th January 1787, d. 7th June 1826 obtained the title of Chevalier of the Empire from Napoleon I on the same date.

Malachowski h. Nalecz. The Malachowskis obtained the hereditary title of Count of Galicia on 24th April 1800 and 6th June 1804, and in Russia on 2nd July 1844 and 5th June 1852. In 1824 they appeared in the list of persons authorised to bear the title of Count in the Kingdom of Poland. The last titled member of this family died in the first quarter of the Twentieth century.

Mankowski h. Zaremba. Waclaw (1820-1905) obtained the hereditary title of Count from Pope Leo XIII on 22nd March 1887. This title was to be borne by himself and his nephew, Napleon-Ksawery (son of Tadeusz, b. 1816, d. 1855 by his wife Bogumila Dabrowska, b. 1814, d. 1901), (1836-1888). Succession to the the title was to be by male primogeniture.

Matuszewicz h. Labedz. Adam (d. without issue in 1836), appeared in the 1824 list of persons authorised to bear the title of Count in the Kingdom of Poland. The title is extinct.

Mecinski h. Poraj. Adam-Albert (son of Albert, b. 1691, d. 1752, b. 1740, obtained the hereditary title of Count of Galicia from Emperor Francis II on 13th August 1801. Adam-Albert's threee sons, Albert, Stanislaw and Jan appeared in the 1824 list of persons authorsed to bear the title of Countin the Kngdom of Poland. The last title member of this family was Adam, died without issue on 14th January 1925. In 1923 Adam adopted Count Stanislaw Tarnowski, b. 16th September 1918, and after that date he bore the name of Tarnowski-Mecinski.

Miaczynski h. Suche Komnaty. The following family members obtained the hereditary title of Count: 1: Ignacy (son of Josef by his wife Katarzyna Potocka) (8th July 1760-25th October 1809), obtained the hereditary title of Count of the Holy Roman Empire from Emperor Francis II on 13th June 1803. This title became extinct in the next generation. 2: Aleksander-Stanislaw (son of Stanislaw-Adam by his wife Micheline Prusimska) (9th January 1810-31st October 1869), obtained the hereditary title of Count from King Frederich-Wilhelm IV of Prussia on 25th May 1853. 3: Witold-Michal (brother of the above), (23rd September 1823-20th March 1880) obtained the hereditary title of Count in Russia on 14th Jaunary 1875. 4: Wladyslaw-Rozeslaw-Tadeusz (19th July 1825-24th November 1891) and his brother, Casimir-Michal-Piotr-Josef (27th January 1827-18th August 1905) (sons of Eufrozy-Jan-NepmuceneAlksander-Antoni by his wife Angele Ignatiew), obtained the hereditary title of Count in Russia on 8th June 1876 (L.P. 10th March 1881). 5: Franciszek-Ksawery-Jan-Josef (b. 24th January 1841), Josef-Mieczyslaw (b. 28th December 1842) and Czeslaw (b. 20th July 1847) (all three were sons of Athanase-Piotr-Ignacy by his wife Helena-Anna Ledochowska), obtained the hereditary title of Count in Russia on 27th January 1881.

Michalowski h. Jasienczyk. Stanislaw-Antoni-Josef-Walerian, (b. 2nd April 1832) obtained the hereditary title of Count in Austria on 26th June 1868 (L.P. 20th July 1868). He died without issue on 15th August 1891. The title became extinct upon his death. The cousin germain of the above, Roman-Etienne (son of Wladyslaw-Roman-Josef, b. 1797, d. 1880 by his wife Justine Uniatycka) (15th June 1839-24th July 1906) obtained the hereditary title of Count of Galicia on 4th November 1885 (L.P. 2nd December 1885). Jan-Nicodeme-Josef (son of Franciszek, b. 25th April 1770) obtained the title of Baron from Emperor Napoleon I on 31st March 1812 (L.P. 14th August 1813).

Mielzynski h. Nowina. Maximilian-Antoni-Jan (son of Andrzej by his wife Anna-Petronella Bninska), (1738-1799) obtained the hereditary title of Count from Kaiser Frederich Wilhelm II of Prussia on 19th September 1786. His two children, Stanislaw and Mikolaj, appear in the 1824 list of persons authorised to bear the title of Count in the Kingdom of Poland. Josef (son of Maceij by his wife Seweryna Lipska), (1765-1824) obtained the hereditary title of Count from Kaiser Frederich-Wilhelm III of Prussia on 12th July 1817 (L.P. 20th January 1818).

Mier h. Mier. William Mier obtained the hereditary title of Count in Austria on 7th March 1777 (L.P. 30th December 1777). The title is extinct.

Mieroszewski h. Slepowron. Josef obtained the hereditary title of Count from Frederich-Wilhelm III of Prussia on 17th July 1798. In 1824 Josef appeared in the list of persons authorised to bear the title of Count in the Kingdom of Poland. Josef died in 1833. He had no issue and his title became extinct. Augustus-Sobieslaw-Dominic (4th August 1820-14th February 1890) and Jan-Stanislaw-Wiktor-Krzysztof (27th December 1827-4th January 1900) obtained the hereditary title of Count in Austria from Emperor Franz-Josef on the 20th June 1869 (L.P. 23rd August 1869). The title became extinct upon the death, without issue, of Krzysztof on 12th December 1915.

Mikorski h. Ostoja. Josef-Andrzej (or Josef-Stanislaw) (son of Jan by his wife Franciszka Proszkowska) obtained the hereditary title of Count from Frederich-Wilhelm III of Prussia on 5th June 1798. His son, Jan-Andrzej appeared in the 1824 list of persons authorised to bear the title of Count in the Kingdom of Poland. Roman-Alcibiade-Augustus (son of the above) obtained the title of Count in Russia on 5th July 1844. The title became extinct upon his death, without issue, in 1850.

Milewski h. Slepowron. Oscar-Karol (son of Hippolyte) (b. 1817) obtained the papal title of Count from Pope Pius IX in 1876. This title was also granted to Oscar-Karol's sons Ignacy-Karol (b.1846) and Hippolyte-Jan (b. 1848). The titles became extinct upon their deaths without issue.

Mlodecki h. Polkozic. Josef-Mikolaj-Antoni-Marcin (or Josef-Jan-Antoni-Mikolaj), (son of Jan-Casimir, d. 1854 by his wife Dorotea Potocka, h. Pilawa), obtained the hereditary title of Count from Pope Leo XIII on 30th August 1881 (succession by primogeniture).

Mniszech h. Mniszech (or Konczyc). Stanislaw-Jerzy (son of Jan-Karol by his wife Katarzyna Zamoyska, h. Jelita) obtained the hereditary title of Count in Austria on 22nd April 1783. The title became extinct upon his death without issue in 1806. Michal-Jerzy (brother of the above) (1748-1806) obtained, at the same time as his brother, the title of Count in Austria. His descendants obtained Russian confirmation of the title on 3rd November 1848. The title became extinct upon the death, without issue, of Andrzej-Jerzy-Filip-Stanislaw on 11th May 1905. Josef-Jan-Tadeusz (brother of the two previous individuals), (1742-1797) obtained the hereditary title of Count in Austria on 14th August 1783. The last member of this branch, Aleksander-Emmanuel-Casimir, (b. 17th May 1871) having no issue, adopted, on 25th July 1934, Baron Tadeusz-Hubert Horoch (son of Josef Horoch by his wife Anna Komorowska). This adoption was confirmed in Torun on 30th September 1935. Hereafter, descendants bore the name Wandalin-Mniszech-Horoch.

Mniszek h. Poraj (or Roza). Adam-Josef obtained the hereditary title of Count of Galicia from Emperor Josef II on 11th February 1783. The title is extinct.

Morski h. Topor. Aleksander (son of Josef by his wife Franciszka Soltyk) obtained the hereditary title of Count of Galicia from Emperor Josef II on 7th June 1784 (L.P. 1785). His son, Ignacy, appeared in the 1824 list of persons authorised to bear the title of Count in the Kingdom of Poland. The title became extinct upon his death without issue.

Morsztyn (Morstin), h. Leliwa. Ludwik-Felicjan-Kajetan, (b. 1782) and his brother, Filip, (b. 1784) (sons of Jan by his wife Catherine Mossakowska) appeared in the 1824 list of persons authorised to bear the title of Count in the Kingdom of Poland. Henri (b. 2nd February 1859), his borther Tadeusz (b. 26th February 1860) (both children of Tadeusz by his wife Sabine Karnicka) as well as Ludwik (b. 12th December 1886) (son of Ludwik by his wife Amelia Lubieniecka, h. Rola), obtained the title of Count from Emperor Franz-Josef on 29th July 1915 (L.P. 19th May 1916).

Mostowski, h. Dolega. Tadeusz-Antoni (son of Pawel-Michal), b. 19th October 1766, died without issue 6th December 1842, appeared in the 1824 list of persons authorised to bear the title of Count in the Kingdom of Poland. Eduard-Athenogene-Josef-Pawel (son of Josef, b. 1763, d. 1817) b. 1790, d. 1855, obtained on 6th October 1843, 19th September 1851 and 17th December 1852 the Russian hereditary title of Count for his four sons: Artur-Karol-Konstanty, Bogdan-Stanislaw-Gedymin, Wladyslaw-Filoxene-Felice and Eduard-Pawel.

Moszczenski, h. Nalecz. Konstanty (son of Ludwik by his wife Konstance Dembinska) obtained the hereditary title of Count of Galicia from Emperor Josef II on 18th April 1788. Konstanty's son, Franciszek, married Celestyn Stadnicka. The title became extinct upon his death without issue. Franciszek (son of Boleslaw by his wife Maria Bronikowska) obtained the hereditary title of Count from Kaiser Frederich-Wilhelm III on 30th June 1803. This title was granted to Franciszek as well as his nephew, Stanislaw (son of Michal by his wife Eleonora Bninska). Both Franicszek and his nephew died without issue. Arsene-Antoni-Ludwik and Boleslaw-Feliks-Henri (both sons of Michael-Adam-Felicjan), Josef-Tadeusz (son of Balthazar-Jan-Adam) and Jan-Nepomucene-Josef (son of Albert-Jerzy), obtained the hereditary title of Count in Russia on 31st December 1856.

Moszynski, h. Nalecz. Jan-Kanty (son of Aleksander-Michal by his wife Teresa Ossolinska) married Fredericka-Aleksandra de Cosel, daughter of King Augustus II on 18th February 1730. Jan-Kanty was accorded a countly title for himself and his descendants. The title became extinct upon the death of his grandson, Jan (son of Augstus-Frederick by his wife Teophilia Potocka), without issue.

Mycielski, h.Dolega. The Mycielskis obtained the hereditary title of Count in Prussia on 20th June 1822 (L.P. 30th July 1822). This title was recognised in Austria on 16th April 1869.

Opacki, h. Prus III. Jan-Gabriel-Rafal (son of Stanislaw and Kontance Mieczkowska), b. 1741, d. 11th February 1806, obtained the hereditary title of Count in Prussia from Kaiser Frederich-Wilhelm II on 5th June 1797. The title became extinct upon his death without issue.

Orlowski, h. Lubicz. Aleksander-Stanislaw obtained the hereditary title of Count (succession by primogeniture) from King Umberto I of Italy on 19th January 1879 (L.P. 30th March 1879). On the 25th March 1886 (L.P. 15th April 1886) King Umberto also conferred on Aleksander-Stanislaw the right to plac his arms on an ermine mantle. The title was later recognised in Bavaria on 2nd July 1903.

O'Rourke

Osiecimski-Hutten-Czapski, h. Lubicz. Kasimir-Robert Osiecimski (son of Hippolyte-Bonawentura by his wife Mathilde-Jadwiga Hutten-Czapska) obtained the right to bear the name of Osiecimski-Hutten-Czapski on 24th March 1907. On 19th November 1907 (L.P. 7th February 1908) he received the hereditary title of Count in Austria from Emperor Franz-Josef.

Ossolinski (see the Ossolinski entry in the section dealing with princes).

Ostrorog, h. Nalecz. Adam, Marcin, Aleksander and Isodore (sons of Josef-Kajetan) obtained the hereditary title of Counts in Galicia from Emperor Josef II on 17th March 1783. Josef, a descendant of Marcin, appeared in the 1824 list of persons authorised to bear the title of Count in the Kingdom of Poland. Roza, nee Glogowska (widow of Andrzej-Mikolaj-Josef, the son of Marcin) obtained Russian confirmation of the title for herself and her son, Leopold-Wladyslaw on 28th June 1844. Leopold-Wladyslaw did not have any issue and accordingly adopted Antoni-Wladyslaw-Ignacy Wolski. On the 22nd December 1903 Leopold secured permission from the Russian Counci of State for Antoni to bear the title of Count as well as the surname of Ostrorog-Wolski.

Ostrowski, h. Rawicz. Roman-Tomasz-Adam-Florian, b. 21st December 1735, d. 5th July 1817 received the hereditary title of Count in Prussia from Kaiser Frederich-Wilhelm III on 6th July 1798. His descendants obtained confirmation of the title in Russia on 3rd July 1844, 7th July 1854, 29th November 1855, 31st December 1891 and 21st December 1898. The sons of Tomasz-Adam appear in the 1824 list of persons authorised to bear the title of Count in the Kingdom of Poland.

Otocki, h. Dolega. Stanislaw, (son of Josef by his wife Justyna Gorzkowska) obtained the hereditary title of Baron of Galicia from Emperor Josef II on 28th January 1784. On the 17th January 1797 Emperor Franz II granted Stanislaw the title of Count. The title became extinct upon his death without issue.

Ozarowski, h. Rawicz. Adam and Franciszke (sons of Piotr by his wife Maria Dzierzbicka), as well as the children of Kajetan, half-brother of Adam and Franciszek (son of Piotr by his first wife Elzbieta Pac), appear in the 1824 list of persons authorised to bear the title of Count in the Kingdom of Poland. The 1824 citation also states that the title was awarded by Tsar Alexander I. On 16th June 1838 Tsar Nicholas I confirmed this title.

Pac, h. Gozdawa. In 1824 the last male member of this family, Ludwik (son of Michal by his wife Ludwika Tyzenhaus) b. 10th May 1778, obtained recognition of his hereditary title of Count from the Senate of the Kingdom of Poland. Ludwik's daughter, Ludwika, (by his wife Karolina Malachowska) was the only member of the family to appear in the list of persons authorised to bear the title of Countess in the Kingdom of Poland. She married Prince Ksawery Sapieha on 19th November 1840 and died in 1895.

Parys (Paris), h. Prawdzic. Adam (d.1817) (son of Jan), obtained the hereditary title of Count of Galicia from Emperor Franz I on 16th July 1807 (L.P. 16th January 1808). His five sons (by his wife Josephine Soltyk), Kajetan, Ignacy, Josef-Walentyn, Jan-Bozy-Josef and Michal appeard in the 1824 list of persons authorised to bear the title of Count in the Kingdom of Poland. The title became exinct upon the death of the children of these five brothers.

Pawlowski, h. Slepowron. Antoni obtained the hereditary title of Count in Austria from Emperor Franz I on 20th May 1810. He had three children by his wife Marie Dwernicka: Ludwik, Ambrozy and Karol. The title became extinc upon their death without male issue.

Pininski, h. Jastrzebiec. The Pininskis obtained the herditary title of Count of Galicia from Emperor Josef II on 1st December 1780.

Piwnicki, h. Leibitz. Ignacy-Josef (son of Dominik by his wife Helena Konarska), b. 12th December 1785, obtained the hereditary title of Count in Prussia from Kaiser Frederich-Wilhelm IV on 9th August 1844. The title became extinct upon his death without issue on 1st November 1867.

Plater (Plater-Zyberk, Broel-Plater), h. Plater (Plater-Zyberk). Michal (son of Kazimierz-Konstanty by his wife Izabella Borch), b. 28th December 1777, married Izabella-Helena von Syberg zu Wischling on 28th December 1777. On 10th July 1803 Tsar Alexander I authorised the use by his descendants of the title of Count and the name of Plater-Syberg (Zyberk). The family was also granted permission to quarter their armorial bearings with those of the Syberg family. Other branches of the Plater family continued to use the unaltered arms. The Platers obtained the hereditary title of Count in Russia on 2nd August 1829 and 3rd February 1843.

Poletylo, h. Trzywdar. Albert (son of Maciej by his wife Claire Pietraszko) d. 1803, obtained the hereditary title of Count of Galicia on 21st August, 1800. His two sons, Jan-Baptiste-Wincenty and Alois-Josef-Antoni both appear in the 1824 list of persons authorised to bear the title of count in the Kingdom of Poland. They also obtained the hereditary title of Count in Russia on 5th July 1844. Jan died without issue. Alois-Josef-Antoni died in 1860 and the title became extinct upon the death of his grand-children.

Potocki, h. Pilawa Srebrna and Pilawa Zlota.

Pilawa Srebrna - 1. Brody Branch: Franciszek-Stanislaw-Josef (son of Wincenty by his wife Anna Mycielska), b. 1788, d. 1853 appears in the 1824 list of persons authorised to bear the title of Count in the Kingdom of Poland. He obtained the hereditary title of Count from Czar Nicholas I on 16th July 1838. The title became extinct upon his death without issue.

2. Lancut and Antoniny Branch: Josef-Mikolaj-Ksawery-Maria-Alfred obtained from Czar Alexander III Russian authorisation to be included as a Count in the 4th Part of the register of nobles of Volhynia.

3. Tulczyn Branch: Konstanty-Josef, b. 1846, obtained the hereditary title of Count from Czar Nicholas II on 28th April 1903.

4. Wilanow, Jablonna and Brzezany Branch: Cecyl, Urszula, Kajetan, Ignacy, Jerzy-Michal, Stanislaw-Kostka and Jan (all children of Eustachy, d. 23rd February, 1768) obtained the hereditary title of Count of Galicia from Emperor Josef II. Aleksander-Stanislaw (1778-1845), son of the aforementioned Stanislaw-Kostka by his wife, Princess Aleksandra Lubomirska, appears in the 1824 list of persons authorised to bear the title of Count in the Kingdom of Poland. Stanislaw-Kostka obtained the hereditary title of Count from Czar Nicholas I on 12th April 1843 for himself and his two sons, Augustus and Stanislaw. His third son, Maurycy (1812-1879) obtained the hereditary title of Count from Czar Aleksander II of Russia. The title became extinct in 1949.
Pilawa Zlota

1. Smotrycz-Sawince Branch: Maria Gorska (widow of Stanislaw Potocki, d. 29th November, 1830) obtained the hereditary title of Countess from Czar Nicholas I of Russia on 12th January 1843. The title became extinct upon her death. Antoni, brother of the late Stanislaw), b. 1780, d. 18th October 1850 appears in the 1824 list of persons authorised to bear the title of Count in the Kingdom of Poland.

2. Buczacz Branch: Dominik, d. 1803 obtained the hereditary title of Count of Galicia on 20th September 1777 (L.P. 11th March 1788).

3. Siemienice-Parzymiechy Branch: Michal, d. 1855, appears in the 1824 list of persons authorised to bear the title of Count in the Kingdom of Poland.

4. Bedlewo-Dakowy Mokre Branch: Boleslaw-Euolge, b. 1st December 1829 (son of Maximilian by his wife Josephine Wyszynska) obtained the title of Cont from Pope Leo XIII on 6th May 1889 for himself and his two sons (succession by primogeniture). The title is extinct.

Potulicki, h. Grzymala. Michal (son of Aleksander-Theodore by his wife Eleonora-Teresa Potocka), b. 15th July 1756, d. 24th December 1806, obtained the hereditary title of Count from Kaiser Friedrich II of Prussia on 28th August 1780. Michal married Elzbieta Wodzica (1770-1806) and had two sons. The first, Kaspar-Piotr-Aleksander, b. 1st January 1792, d. 12th December 1853 obtained recognition of his title from the Senate of the Kingdom of Poland on 19th June 1825. He received further confirmation of his right to the title of Count in Russia from Czar Nicholas I on 5th June 1852. The second son of Michal, Kazimierz-Ludwik-Lukasz-Ignacy, b. 12th September 1793, d. 13th October 1871 obtained recognition of his title from the Senate of the Kingdom of Poland on 19th June 1825. His title became extinct upon his death without issue.

Potworowski, h. Debno. Jan-Adam (son of Adam by his wife Maria-Luiza Trepka) b. 8th January 1761, d. 27th July 1829, obtained the hereditary title of Count from Kaiser Friedrich Wilhelm III of Prussia on 17th January 1816. The title is extinct.

Pruszynski, h. Rawicz. Bronislaw-Marcel (son of Mieczyslaw-Maciej-Fortunat by his wife Helena Sudymontowicz-Czeczel) obtained the title of Count from Pope Leo XIII on 8th August 1883 (succession by primogeniture).

Przerembski, h. Nowina. Maximilien (son of Stanislaw by his wife Anna Rozrazewska), d. 1639 obtained the hereditary title of Count of the Holy Roman Empire for himself and his two nephews on 12 April 1637. Lucie Wodzicka, widow of Adam Przerembski, d. 1811, appeared in the 1824 list of persons authorised to bear the title of Count(ess) in the Kingdom of Poland. The title became extinct upon her death.

Przezdziecki, h. Roch III. Konstanty (1782-1856) obtained the personal title of Count in Russia on 24th December 1843. His descendants (sons of Konstanty, b. 1846, d. 1896, by his wife Elzbieta Plater-Zyberk) as well as Josef (1872-1956), Jan-Aleksander (1877-1944), Konstanty (b. 1879), Etienne (1879-1932) and Renaud (1884-1956), obtained the hereditary title of Count in Russia on 21st January 1913.

Puslowski, h. Szeliga. Franciszek-Ksawery, b. 22nd March 1847 and his brother Zygmunt-Wladyslaw-Mikolaj-Feliks-Adam, b. 17th December 1848 (both sons of Wladyslaw-Jan-Adam-Josef, b. 1801, d. 1859, by his wife Princess Genevieve-Pauline-Emilie Drucka-Lubecka, b. 1820, d. 1867) obtained the title of Count from Pope Pius IX on 4th April 1869 (succession by primogeniture).

Raczynski, h. Nalecz. Kazimierz (son of Wiktor by his wife Madeline Dzialynska) obtained the hereditary title of Count from Kaiser Friedrich Wilhelm III on 6th July 1798. The title became extinct upon his death without issue on 25th November 1824. Edward (son of Philip, b. 1747, d. 1804, by his wife Michelle Raczynska), and his brother Athanasy obtained the hereditary title of Count from Kaiser Friedrich Wilhelm III of Prussia on 1st February 1824. Athanasy's only son, Karol-Edward died without issue on 13th March 1899.

Rey, h. Oksza. Kajetan, son of Jan-Michal obtained the hereditary title of Count of Galicia from Emperor Franz I on 29th July 1806 (L.P. 1st April 1808).

Rogalinski, h. Lodzia. Kaspar (son of Antoni by his wife Helena Rogalinska) obtained the hereditary title of Count of the Holy Roman Empire from Emperor Josef II on 1st April 1787. The title became extinct upon Kaspar's death without issue in 1788.

Romer, h. Jelita. Cyprien-Pawel (son of Aleksander by his wife Apolonia Olszewska), b. 1772, d. 1850 obtained the hereditary title of Count in Austria on 14th August 1818 (L.P. 15th April 1832).

Ronikier, h. Gryf. Stanislaw-Augustus-Josef, b. 1st September 1785 and his brother Kazimierz-Josef-Athanasy, b. 6th February 1787 (both sons of Michal Aleksander, b. 1728, d. 1802 by his wife Josephine Miaczynska) obtained the hereditary title of Count in Russia on 8th March 1850.

Rozwadowski, h. Traby. Ignacy (son of Antoni by his wife Helena Rupniewska) obtained the hereditary title of Count of Galicia from Emperor Josef II on 23rd August 1783. Konstanty, Wladymir-Wladyslaw and Aleksander (all sons of Jan-Tadeusz by his second wife Maria Wagrodzka) obtained the title of Count from Czar Aleksander II on 29th June 1872. The title is extinct.

Russocki, h. Zadora. Mikolaj (son of Josef by his wife Petronella Wolska) obtained the hereditary title of Count of Galicia on 6th November 1800 and the hereditary title of Count in Austria on 26th April 1803. In 1824 the Russockis appeared in the list of persons authorised to bear the title of Count in the Kingdom of Poland.

Rzewuski, h. Krzywda. Kazimierz obtained the hereditary tile of Count in Austria from Emperor Franz I on 21st April 1819. The title became extinct upon his death without issue in 1820. Leon obtained the hereditary title of Count in Austria from Emperor Franz-Josef on 20th April 1858. The title became extinct upon his death without issue in 1869. Florian (son of Seweryn) obtained the hereditary title of Count from Czar Alexander II of Russia on 18th November 1856. The title is extinct. Henryk, b. 1791, d. 1866, Adam, b. 1801, d. 188 and Ernest, b. 1812, d. 1862 (all sons of Adam, b. 1760, d. 1825 by his wife Justyna Rdultowska) all obtained the hereditary title of Count from Czar Alexander II on 18th November 1856. Adam obtained further confirmation of his title in Russia on 28th May 1885.

Rzyszczewski, h. Pobog. Josef-Adam, b. 19th December 1813, d. 3rd August 1884, obtained the hereditary title of Count in Austria on 9th November 1845 (L.P. 27th August 1857). This branch obtained authorisation to bear the name of Rzyszczewski-Stadion in Bavaria on 18th August and 17th October 1913. Leon (brother of the aforementioned Josef-Adam), b. 12th February 1815, d. 23rd July 1882, had, by his wife Princess Micheline Radziwill, two sons, Michal and Zygmunt-Walentyn-Celestyn. They obtained confirmation of the title of Count in Italy on 9th October 1884.

Siekierzynski, h. Zadora. Czeslaw obtained the heredtiary title of Count of Austria from Emperor Josef II on 21st February 1783. The title became extinct upon the death without issue of his son Adam.

Siemienski (later Siemienski-Lewicki), h. Dabrowa. Wilhelm-Stanislaw (son of Mikolaj by his wife Konstantyn Goskowska), b. 12th November 1722, d. 23rd January 1802, obtained the hereditary title of Count of Galicia from Emperor Josef II on 3rd February 1779 and the hereditary title of Count in Austria on 29th May 1781. His great-grandson Wilhelm-Stanislaw-Josef (son of Konstanty by his wife Olympia Lewica), b. 4th April 1827, d. 17th August 1901, married Zofia Lewicka, h. Rogala on 26th April 1856. Zofia was the last member of the branch. On 11th December 1869, Wilhelm-Stanislaw-Josef and his wife obtained authorisation from Emperor Franz-Josef to bear the name of Siemienski-Lewicki.

Sierakowski, h. Ogonczyk. Waclaw-Jerome (1699-1780) obtained the hereditary title of Count of Galicia from Empress Maria-Theresa for himself and his family on 16th April 1775. The title was later confirmed in Prussia on 13th June 1776 and in Russia on 5th July 1844. Empress Maria-Theresa also granted the Sierakowskis the right to place their arms on a crimson mantle. Kajetan Sierakowski appears in the 1824 list of persons authorised to bear the title of Count in the Kingdom of Poland.

Skarbek, h. Habdank. The Skarbeks obtained a hereditary title of Count in Galicia on 5th December 1778, in Austria, on 14th November 1835 and in Russia on 26th March 1835. In 1824 the Skarbeks appear in the list of persons authorised to bear the title of Count in the Kingdom of Poland.

Skarzynski, h. Boncza. Bronislaw (son of Maximilian, 1786-1813, by his wife Maria Lubienska) and his two sons Bogumil (1841-1906) and Ludwik obtained the title of Count from Pope Leo XIII on 8th January 1884 (succession by primogeniture). Ambrozy-Mikolaj (son of Jerzy by his wife Bibiane Lanckoronska), b. 7th December 1787, d. 6th June 1868, obtained the title of Baron from Emperor Napoleon I on 16th March 1814 (succession by primogeniture). Ambrozy-Mikolaj appears in the 1824 list of persons authorised to bear the title of Baron in the Kingdom of Poland. On 5th March 1841 he obtained recognition of his title in Prussia.

Skorzewski, h. Drogoslaw. Friedrich-Josef-Andrzej-Wilhelm (1768-1832) obtained the hereditary title of Count from Kaiser Friderich-Wilhelm II of Prussia on 19th April 1787. Raymond-Josef-Jan-Nepomucene (1791-1859) obtained the hereditary title of Count from Kaiser Friedrich-Wilhelm IV of Prussia on 10th September 1840 (L.P. 9th June 1846) (successoin by primogeniture). This title was transmissible upon the condition that the mother of the successor be noble in her own right and that the family retain possession of Radomice-Czerniejewo.

Skrzynski, h. Zaremba. Adam-Tomasz-Aleksander (son of Aleksander-Jacques-Ignacy by his wife Maria Lipowska), b. 1st January 1853, d. 25th July 1905, obtained the heredtiary title of Count in Austria from Emperor Franz-Josef on 14th January 1895 (L.P. 2nd March 1895).

Smorczewski, h. Rawicz. Medard-Franciszek-Adolph (son of Antoni by his wife Aloise Smorczewska), b. 1828 obtained the title of Count from Pope Leo XIII on 17th May 1892 (succession by primogeniture) for himself and his two sons, Jan-Justyn, b. 1858, and Feliks, b. 1860.

Sobanski, h. Junosza. Feliks-Hilaire-Michal-Ludwik (son of Ludwik by his wife Roza Lubienska), b. 11th January 1833, obtained the hereditary title of Count from Pope Leo XIII in 1880 (succession by primogeniture).

Sobolewski, h. Slepowron. Ignacy (son of Walenty by his wife Kunegunda Nowicka), 1770-1846, appears in the 1824 list of persons authorised to bear the title of Count in the Kingdom of Poland. The title is extinct.

Sokolnicki, h. Nowina. Celestyn (son of Kazimierz, 1699-1779, by his wife Katarzyna Walknowska) b, 6th April 1819, obtained the heredtiary title of Count from Kaiser Friedrich-Wilhelm III of Prussia on 11th April 1817 (L.P. 9th June 1817). Note: A man calling himself "His Serene Highness Prince Grand Master Count Juliusz Nowina-Sokolnicki" does not descend from this titled family. The author has been unable to locate any documented grant of a title to this man or his Sokolnicki ancestors.

Stadnicki, h. Szreniawa bez Krzyza. The Stadnickis obtained the hereditary title of Count of Galicia in 1783, 1784 and 1788 from Emperor Josef II, and in 1836 from Emperor Ferdinand I. The titles were later confirmed in Russia in 1809, 1840, 1841, 1862, 1888 and 1894 and by the Senate of the Kingdom of Poland in 1826. The Stadnickis appear in the 1824 list of persons authorised to bear the title of Count in the Kingdom of Poland.

Starzenski, h. Lis. Maciej-Maurycy (1717-1787) and his brother Piort (1722-1797) obtained the hereditary title of Count of Galicia from Emperor Josef II on 1st December 1780. The title was later recognised in Prussia on 7th December 1799 and in Russia on 30th November 1849. The Starzenskis appear in the 1824 list of persons authorised to bear the title of Count in the Kingdom of Poland.

Suchodolski, h. Janina. Albrech (son of Michal-Maurycy by his wife Beata Mezynska) 1749-1826 obtained the heredtiary title of Count of Galicia from Emperor Franz II on 3rd january 1800 (L.P. 10th July 1800). His two sons, Jan-Bonawentura-Franciszek-Wincenty and Franciszek-Wincenty-Michal appear in the 1824 list of persons authorised to bear the title of Count in the Kingdom of Poland. The title was later recognised in Russia on 27th December 1847. The title is extinct.

Suminski, h. Leszczyc. Artur-Josef-Gabriel (son of Antoni, 1783-1864, by his wife Zofia Piwnicka), 19th July 1834, d. 19th November 1886, obtained authorisation to bear the title of Count in Saxony on 1st July 1870 and later in Prussia on 14th November 1876.

Szaniawski, h. Junosza. Stanislaw, b. 1750, d.1822, obtained the hereditary title of Count of Galicia from Emperor Franz II. The title became extinct upon his death without issue.

Szeliski, h. Szeliga. Henryk (son of Kazimierz by his wife Karolina Fuchs) obtained the title of Count from Pope Leo XIII on 10th May 1894. The title became extinct upon his death without issue.

Szembek, h. Szembek. Josef-Ignacy (1740-1835) and his son Piotr (1788-1866) obtained the hereditary title of Count from Kaisr Friedrich-Wilhelm III on 17th January and 12th June 1816 (L.P. 22nd October 1816). They appear in the 1824 list of persons authorised to bear the title of Count in the Kingdom of Poland.

Szeptycki, h. Szeptycki. Wincenty-Leon (son of Jan by his wife Maria Bobrowska), b. 5th April 1782, d. 2nd January 1836, obtained the title of Chevalier of the Empire from Emperor Napoleon I along with an annual rent of 1,000 Fr. Jan-Kanty-Remigien (so of Piotr-Pawel-Leopold, 1808-1843, by his wife Roza-Teresa-Ewa Kossecka, 1808-1882), b. 1st October 1836, obtained the hereditary title of Count in Austria on 6th May 1871 (L.P. 16th September 1871).

Szlubowski, h. Slepowron. Stanislaw-Florian (son of Antoni by his wife Kunegunda Karska) b, 1816 received the title of Count from Pope Pius IX in 1869.
Szoldrski, h. Lodzia. Wiktor-Tomasz-Antoni, d. 15th January 1830, obtained the heredtary title of Count from Kaiser Friedrich-Wilhelm III of Prussia on 5th June 1798. He appears in the 1824 list of persons authorised to bear the title of Count in the Kingdom of Poland.

Taczanowski, h. Jastrzebiec. Alfonso-Antoni-Felix (son of Maximilian by his wife Francoise Drweska) b. 11th June 1815, d. 10th May 1867 obtained the title of Count from Kaiser Friedrich Wilhelm IV of Prussia on 6th September 1854. The title became extinct upon his death without issue.

Tarlo, h. Topor. Andrzej and Florian appear in the 1824 list of persons authorised to bear the title of Count in the Kingdom of Poland. The family's right to the title became extinct upon their death.

Tarnowski, h. Leliwa. Hereditary titles of Count obtained in the Holy Roman Empire in 1547, in Galicia in 1785 and 1887 and in Russia in 1861. The Tarnowskis appear in the 1824 list of persons authorised to bear the title of Count in the Kingdom of Poland.

Trembinski, h. Rogala. Adam and Franciszek (both sons of Walerian by his wife Ludwika Rostworowska) obtained the hereditary title of Count of Galicia from Emperor Josef II in 1783.

Tyszkiewicz, h. Leliwa. The family received the title of Count in Russia on 8th May 1861, in Saxony on 21st May and 17th December 1862 and in Austria on 7th October 1893. On 4th February 1902, Czar Nicolas II accorded all descendants of Basil Tyszkiewicz, Palatine of Smolensk, the right to the title of Count.

Ulinski, h. Dolega. Augutus-Feliks, b. 28th August 1728 (son of Jan by his wife Ludwika Stawska) obtained the hereditary title of Count from Emperor Josef II on 2nd June 1779. The title became extinct upon his death without issue.

Uruski, h. Sas. Seweryn-Maciej-Leon-Kazimierz (son of Kajetan by his wife Wanda Potocka) b. 1st July 1817, d. 16th August 1890, obtained the hereditary title of Count in Austria from Emperor Ferdinand I on 17th February 1844 (L.P. 13th December 1844).

Walewski (Colonna), h. Kolumna. Josef Walewski appears in the 1824 lst of persons authorised to bear the title of Count in the Kingdom of Poland. Aleksander-Josef, son of Josef, b. 18th March 1778, died without issue, obtained the hereditary title of Count from Czar Nicholas I on 1st January 1833 (L.P. 21st April 1838). This grant was made to Aleksander-Josef and to his two nephews, Konrad and Nicolas-Josef-Daniel (sons of his brother Wincenty, b. 1785, d. 1819). The recipients were also accorded the right to place their arms on a purple mantle. Konrad's son, Stanislaw-Aleksander, b. 3rd August 1840, d. 22nd March 1896, obtained recognition of his title of Count in Prussia on 31st March 1872.

The French family that bore the name of Colonna-Walewska descended from Aleksander-Florian-Josef, b. 4th May 1810, d. 28th September 1868, son of Napoleon I by his mistress Marie Laczynska. Aleksander-Florian-Josef obtained the title of Count from Napoleon I on 5th May 1812 (L.P. 31st May 1812).

Wasowicz (Dunin), h. Labedz. In 1824 Stanislaw, 5th May 1788, d. 30th June 1864, Adam and Josef appear in the 1824 list of persons authorised to bear the title of Count in the Kingdom of Poland.

Wesierski (Kwilecki), h. Belina. Albin, son of Wincenty by his wife Josephine Bninska, b. 12th April 1812, d. 21st September 1875, obtained the hereditary title of Count from Kaiser Friedrich Wilhelm IV of Prussia on 20th October 1854 (succession by primogeniture). Zbigniew-Antoni-Josef (son of Albin above by his wife Ludwika Kwilecka), b. 23rd April 1839 was adopted by his grandfather, Josef-Ignacy-Walenty Kwilecki. On 27th June 1853 he obtained authorisation from Kaiser Friedrich Wilhelm IV to bear the name, the arms and the title of Count borne by the Kwilecki family.

Wielhorski, h. Kierdeja. Michal, d. 1794, obtained the hereditary title of Count of Galicia from Emperor Josef II on 27th February 1787. Michal had two sons by his wife, Princess Elzbieta Oginska, Josef and Michal. Josef's two sons, Jan-Nepomucene-Stanislaw-Adam and Josef-Lucas received confirmation of their title in Russia on 30th November 1849. Michal's two sons, Alexsander-Michal-Gustav-Adolph and Aleksander-Michal-Wladyslaw-Irenee-Andrzej-Josef obtained confirmation of their title in Russia also on 30th November 1849. The Wielhorskis appear in the 1824 list of persons authorised to bear the title of Count in the Kingdom of Poland.

Wiesiolowski, h. Ogonczyk. Andrzej obtained the hereditary title of Count of Galicia from Emperor Josef II on 1st December 1780.

Wisniewski, h. Prus I. Tadeusz-Stanislaw-Konstanty (son of Jan-Albert-Anselme by his wife Teresa Kownacka) b. 26th August 1824, d. 8th January 1888, obtained the hereditary title of Count in Austria from Emperor Franz-Josef on 29th December 1876 (L.P. 13th March 1877).

Wodzicki, h. Leliwa. Elie (son of Piotr, d. 1768, by his wife Konstance Dembinska, d. 1805, obtained the hereditary title of Count of Galicia from Emperor Franz II on 28th November 1799. Franciszek (brother of the above), d. 1804, obtained the same title from the same monarch on 16th October 1800 (L.P. 11th November 1803). The Wodzickis appear in the 1824 list of persons authorised to bear the title of Count in the Kingdom of Poland. On 2nd July 1842 the family obtained recognition of the title in Russia.

Wolanski, h. Przyjaciel. Wladyslaw-Krzystof-Feliks-Albert (son of Franciszek-Feliks), b. 29th October 1837, d. 21st January 1891, obtained the hereditary title of Count in Austria from Emperor Franz-Josef on 28th November 1866. Nicolas-Wladyslaw (son of Aleksander), b. 18th June 1826, d. 2nd July 1895, obtained the hereditary itle of Count in Austria from Emperor Franz-Josef on 23rd February, 1888. The title became extinct upon his death without issue.

Wolski, h. Rola. Josef obtained the title of Count from Kaiser Friedrich-Wilhelm III on 5th June 1798.

Wollowicz, h. Bogoria. Antoni (son of Josef by his wife Madeleine Michniewicz), d. 26th January 1822, obtained the hereditary title of Count from Kaiser Friedrich-Wilhelm III on 5th June 1798. Antoni appears (post mortem) in the 1824 list of persons authorised to bear the title of Count in the Kingdom of Poland. One of his sons, Joachim-Josef obtained recognition of his title in Russia on 2nd July 1844.

Woyna (Hreczyna), h. Traby. Franciszek-Ksawery, b. 1750, d. 15th May 1813 obtained the hereditary title of Count of Galicia from Emperor Franz II on 9th January 1800.

Zabielski (Bok), h. Trzaska. Piotr (son of Marcin by his wife Barbara Siemianowska) obtained the hereditary title of Count of Galicia from Emperor Franz I on 11th June 1808.

Zabiello, h. Topor. Henryk-Kazimierz-Josef-Maciej (son of Josef), b. 5th March 1785, d. without issue 17th January 1850, appears in the 1824 list of persons authorised to bear the title of Count in the Kingdom of Poland. Henryk-Onufre-Maria (son of Karol-Walerian by his wife Mathilda Kobylinska), b. 16th October 1844, d. 30th May 1900, obtained the hereditary title of Count in Austria on 14th January 1888.

Zaleski, h. Dolega. Waclaw (son of Filip-Krzysztof) obtained the hereditary title of Count from Emperor Franz-Josef of 28th October 1913.

Zaluski, h. Junosza. Franciszek-Karol (grandson of Franciszek, d. 1735 by his wife Dorotea de Riviere d'Aerschot) inherited after the death of his grandmother the name and title of Zaluski, Count of Riviere d'Aerschot. Ignacy (son of Jan-Prospere by his wife Wiktoria Szoldrska) obtained the hereditary title of Count in Austria from Empress Maria-Theresa on 28th March 1776. Josef-Bonawentura-Ignacy (grandson of the above and son of Teofile-Albert, b. 1760, d. 1831 by his wife Honorate Stempkowska), b. 14th July 1787, d. 26th Aprli 1866, obtained the title of Baron from Emperor Napoleon I on 15th March 1810. Josef, Jan-Kanty, Roman, Bogumil, Franciszek, Tomasz, Antoni, Joachim and Ludwik appear in the 1824 list of persons authorised to bear the title of Count in the Kingdom of Poland.

Zamoyski, h. Jelita. The Zamoyskis obtained the hereditary title of Count in Galicia on 30th January 1778 (L.P. 30th January 1780), in Austria on 14th July 1820 and in Russia, on 28th June 1844. The family appears in the 1824 list of persons authorised to bear the title of Count in the Kingdom of Poland.

Zawadzki, h. Rogala. Kazimierz-Witold-Stanislaw (son of Marcin-Bartolome-Roman, b. 1812, d. 1857 by his wife Celestyn-Adolphine Czyz, b. 1817, d. 1881), b. 17th September 1838, d. 1898 obtained the title of Count from Pope Pius IX in 1865. The title became extinct upon his death.

Zboinski, h. Ogonczyk. Franciszek-Ksawery obtained the hereditary title of Count from Kaiser Friedrich-Wilhelm III of Prussia on 5th June 1798. The family appears in the 1824 list of persons authorised to bear the title of Count in the Kingdom of Poland. They obtained recognition of the title in Russia on 2nd July 1842.

Zborowski, h. Jastrzebiec. Maximilien obtaine the hereditary title of Count of Galicia from Emperor Franz II on 1st September 1792 (L.P. 14th August 1793).

Zelenski, h. Ciolek. Franciszek (son of Theodore-Stanislaw by his wife Anna Pisarska) obtained the hereditary title of Count of Galicia from Emperor Franz II on 5th March 1801.

Zoltowski, h. Ogonczyk. Jan-Nepomucene-Gaudenty-Walenty (1778-1854) and his son Stanislaw (1810-1867) obtained the hereditary title of Count from Kaiser Friedrich-Wilhelm IV on 10th September 1840 and 20th July 1844 (succession by primogeniture). The grant was conditional upon the holder maintaining possession of the estae of Jarogniewice. Several members of the family obtained the hereditary title of Count of Saint Siege (succession by primogeniture). Grants were made on the following dates: 1867, 1869, 1870, 1877, 16th May 1893, 19th May 1900, 3rd July 1901 and 17th December 1917.

Zyniew, h. Paweza. Maciej obtained the hereditary title of Count in Prussia on 5th June 1798. His widow, Wiktoria Oginska, appears in the 1824 list of persons authorised to bear the title of Count in the Kingdom of Poland. The title became extinct upon her death.
